Things To Do Before I Die

I’ve been inspired.

I’ve been told time and time again that having a list of things to do before you die actually helps you cross things off said list. It’s a novel concept, and as I have the memory of a hollowed-out grapefruit, I’m going to give it a try.

After reading some absolutely stunning writing by Chris Guillebeau I’ve decided to re-organize this list into smaller, more specific lists. I’ve also opted to give this more thought.

Silly Things That I Want To Do

  1. Have a Vegetable Garden
  2. Learn to play my guitar well enough to play “Hotel California”
  3. Get  a new bookshelf that can hold all of my books
  4. Get another bookshelf that can hold all of the new books I have
  5. Get a car with an actual trunk
  6. Get new fish for empty aquarium
  7. Ride a cable car
  8. Make a pie from scratch
  9. Make a cake from scratch
  10. Become a competent roller-blader

Typical Stuff

  1. Get my own place (Owned, not rented)
  2. Get (and remain) married
  3. Have 1-2 children
  4. Get paid at least $90,000 annually (before bonuses)
  5. Have a job I enjoy going to every day
  6. Retire by 55
  7. Get a dog (more mutt, the better)
  8. Go to school for graphic design
  9. Graduate with honours
  10. Bike in a marathon (or whatever the bike versions are called)
  11. Get a B.A. and M.A. in Design
  12. See the Northern Lights
  13. Go Kayaking

Out of the Box

  1. Draw something every day for a year
  2. Get a tour of Pixar studios
  3. Read a book every week for a year
  4. Write a Novel & have it published (physical book, not an eBook)
  5. Write one short story every month for a year
  6. Become fluent in Japanese
  7. Go Skydiving
  8. Go Bungee-jumping
  9. Explore a cave
  10. Build a sweet tree-house
  11. Become a bigger brother
  12. Design my own wedding invitations

Travel-related

For the record, anything that says (visit) in front of it has a requirement of at least 3 full days and nights attached to it. The day I land and the day I leave do not count.
